On February 22 and March 1, Ukrainian children in Amsterdam, together with their parents, met again in the Vrijburg church to paint mandalas. The afternoon was part of the series “Time of Creativity and Inspiration”. The event is organised with the support of Refugees MeetUp.
The topic of meetengs was the well-known geometric symbol – the mandala. Ukrainian teacher Halyna Rodionova told the participants about mandalas, what they represented in the various spiritual traditions, about the configuration of its features, and the meaning of the colours and symbols in it.
In the practical part of the class the children choose their colours and decorated the mandalas according to their own design. The adults created the patterns from the start, building on what they had learned about the meaning of colour and symbols.
It is an intens and demanding task, because the process as well as the end result steers the creator towards positive emotions and gives strength, something Ukrainians refugees need so much of at the moment. And indeed, by the end of the event, the participants noticed that their stress level decreased, concentration and attention increased, and emotions and feelings were more in tune.
After drawing, children and their parents exchanged experiences over a cup of tea and sweets sponsored by Refugees Meetup.
1 березня українські діти разом зі своїми батьками знову зібралися у приміщенні церкви Vrijburg, щоб помалювати мандали. Захід відбувся у рамках проекту «Час творчості та натхнення» за підтримки Refugees MeetUp.
Тема зустрічі була присвячена відомому езотеричному символу – Мандалі. Українська вчителька Галина Родіонова розповіла про виникнення мандали, особливості орнаментів, значення кольорів та символів у ній.
У практичній частині заходу діти розмальовували трафарети у кольорах, які підбирали самостійно. Дорослі самі створювали орнаменти з урахуванням значення кольору та символів.
Це копітка робота, адже грамотно виконана мандала налаштовує людину людину на позитивні емоції, надає сил, які зараз так потрібні українським біженцям. І справді, учасники відмітили, що в кінці заходу рівень їх стресу знизився, концентрація уваги підвищилась, емоції та почуття гармонізувалися
Після малювання діти та дорослі обмінялися переживаннями за чашкою чаю та солодощами, які надала благодійна організація Refugees Meetup.
