This Wednesday, the Ukrainian refugees who came to the meeting «We are from Ukraine», were on an unusual excursion. They visited all corners of Vrijburg — the place where we go every week to talk in our native language over tea and treats.
The ascetic exterior building of the ‘30s of the last century houses a surprisingly bright interior, amazing stained glass windows, and radiates a feeling of coziness in its every detail.
Ukrainian refugees gave Thanks to Marietta for the touching story about the history of the building — we were moved by the love and admiration with which she spoke about ‘her’ Vrijburg, a Remonstrantse kerk, which describes itself as “a spiritual home to anyone who explores the notion of a meaningful existence. Engaged, free, and tolerant”.
A meeting with the artist in residence in his workshop was also inspiring for Ukrainian women. It’s amazing how simple and ordinary things can be turned into works of art.
Refugees from Ukraine never cease to be amazed by the hospitality, friendliness, and openness of the Dutch people, and the dedication of the volunteers whom we meet every time at these events for Ukrainian refugees in Amsterdam. They are very grateful for the opportunity to spend time so enthusiastically and interestingly and to better get to know the local culture!
Цієї середи біженці з України, що зібралися на зустріч групи «Ми з України», були на незвичайній екскурсії. Вони пройшлися закуточками Vrijburg — місця, де щотижня збираються поговорити рідною мовою за чаєм і ласощами.
Аскетична зовні будівля 30-х років минулого століття здивувала світлим інтер’єром приміщень, дивовижними вітражами та відчуттям затишку у кожній деталі.
Українські жінки дякують Маріетті за зворушливу розповідь про історію будівлі. Вони перейнялися тією любов’ю та захопленням із якими вона розповідала про «її» Врейбург, Remonstrantsche kerk, яка стала «духовним домом для кожного, хто шукає осмисленого життя — сповненого добрих справ, свободи і толерантності».
Надихаючою для біженців з України була зустріч із художником у його майстерні. Дивовижно, як можна прості і звичні речі перетворювати на витвори мистецтва.
Біженці з України на перестають дивуватися гостинності, дружньості і відкритості нідерландців, самовідданості волонтерів, з якими кожного разу зустрічаються на подібних заходах для біженців з України в Нідерландах. Вони дуже вдячні за можливість так душевно і цікаво проводити час і ближче знайомитись з місцевою культурою!
